Food, Inc. (2008) | it’s important (and scary!) to know where your food comes from, which is why this doc should be required viewing for all homo sapiens living in the U.S.
Jiro Dreams of Sushi trailer
about: the doc profiles 85 year-old Jiro Ono, the proprietor of Sukiyabashi Jiro, a 10-seat, sushi restaurant located in a Tokyo subway station. Sushi lovers come from all over world — calling months in advance to reserve a seat at Jiro’s sushi bar. Even at his age Jiro still strives for perfection, and the heart of this story is his loving but complicated relationship with his eldest son Yoshikazu.
looks good.
I Wish I Knew | the latest documentary by Jia Zhang Ke is beautifully shot and full of fascinating personal stories that revolve around the history of Shanghai, but the confounding and ridiculously distracting shots of a mysterious random woman roaming around the city (meant to somehow interweave these anecdotes) kind of killed it.
Young@Heart | you know you’re watching something awesome when a film begins with a rendition of a Clash song by a 92 year-old lady. it’s a touching and hilarious doc chronicling the musical stylings of a senior choir group, average age 80 years young. in the immortal words of Cher Horowitz, “old people can be so sweet!”
i must see this!
