i am…but also dying of second hand embarrassment.

You’d think that after several week and about a million watches this would get less hilarious to me. But actually it only gets better. So if you don’t have the Russell Crowe music video for Weight Of A Man in your life I suggest you take a moment to CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

The Next Three Days is flawed, so flawed—but the kicks you get from the last third of the movie may be enough to forget its ridiculousness.

continued my semi-Ridley Scott fest with Robin Hood. was totally aware of people not liking the movie when i went into it, and you know what?—those lowered expectations made the film sorta enjoyable. it’s still kinda crap, considering all the great films in Scott’s oeuvre, but it’s not like it’s Hannibal. and what i take away from all this is: expectations are everything.
Scott and co. pretty much turn the myth of Robin Hood and his merry men on its head, but that isn’t the problem. the biggest problem with the film is its script, whose second act just rambles along aimlessly. the whole story though is just messy and tries to tackle so many elements that it just ends up not working. and what also suffers from this is really poorly drawn, one-dimensional characters.
but i mean, it’s a Ridley Scott film with a brilliant cast headed by Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett, so i still got sucked into the world of the story and it was still an adventure. and you know, all the helicopter shots of the horses charging on the beach really made me 1. wanna go visit Wales and 2. ride a horse.

Robin Hood (Russell Crowe) and Maid Marian (Cate Blanchett). i love the idea of two Aussies in iconic English roles.

i guess Robin Hood is a good consolation prize for the lack of a Gladiator sequel (which has been [is still?] in the works for a long time). ok, Gladiator 2 sounds lame, especially after that wtf script draft by Nick Cave, but if Ridley Scott can get behind it, then so can i.

a batch of new promos for Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood just came out. the film will be released next May (i love Scott’s May releases: Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven) and boasts a great cast—Russell Crowe (who, let’s face it, will always be Maximus), Cate Blanchett, Mark Strong, Matthew Macfadyen (Mr. Darcy!), Kevin Durand, Danny Huston, William Hurt, Max von Sydow, and Scott Grimes.

Aussies (Russell Crowe and Guy Pearce) playing L.A. cops (Bud White and Ed Exley). it’s funny now to think that no one knew who these two actors were at the time.
