interesting fact of the day: John Williams composed the Olympics fanfare and theme.
via moviescore|graceeileen|inothernews:
It probably goes without saying that John Williams is the most prolific composer of his generation. From movies to television, maestro Williams has scored productions large (Star Wars, Superman, Jaws, Jurassic Park, and more) and small (themes to Amazing Stories, Fiddler on the Roof, and more).
Williams composed the themes for four Olympics: the 1988 Summer Games in Seoul; the 1996 Summer Games in Atlanta; the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City; and this, the first and grandest work of all, and probably the one most people - most Americans, anyway - identify with the Olympic Games.
